Outdoor Workouts with the Exer-Genie

Outdoor Workout with a History

This tool was invented in 1961. It was derived from a variable rope friction device known as the Sky-Genie to help lower people from burning buildings. Then it was developed to help the American Space Program with “Fitness in Space.” It’s unique resistance apparatus allows for many different workouts including working out in zero gravity and many ways to do great outdoor workouts. After Vince Lombardi, head coach of the Green Bay Packers, used it to train his football team many professional teams in the NBA, NHL, and NFL used it for the past 50 years to improve their workout regime.

Using the Full ROM at Maximum Effort

The Exer-Genie develops muscle and strength throughout a full range of motion. Terminology-wise, isometric contraction refers to the person’s Maximum Effort against an immovable object while isotonic is the muscle contraction through the full range of motion.

Put to practice by the Exer-Genie, an exercise begins

  • with a 10-second isometric contraction, thereby fatiguing the muscle,
  • then the isotonic phase takes over by working’ the muscle through a range of some particular football-necessary motion, It may be a passing motion for the quarterbacks, forearm motion for the linemen or leg, knee or foot motion for all.

Portable Tool for Outdoor Workouts giving 400 pounds Resistance

The amount of resistance or weight from the Exer-Genie is controlled by a little lever on the handle, it ranges from 0 to around 400 pounds.

And of course you can use it with the long line to get your horzizontal resistance as shown in the video. Get it here:  Exer-Genie
